What is a Wind mitigation or windstorm mitigation inspection?

Wind Mitigation Logo.png

A Wind mitigation inspection is needed to determine which credits apply to a home. During a wind mitigation inspection, a state licensed inspector from Homeology Property Inspection LLC , looks for key features such as roof tie downs called "straps" and or "clips". Other key features would be hurricane proof shutters or impact windows. These features can reduce the amount of damage your home may suffer in the event of a Hurricane or strong windstorm.

Do I need a wind mitigation inspection?

By Florida law, insurance providers  have to offer homeowners credit off of a homeowners insurance premium for guarding their home against wind damage. A certified inspection must be completed in order for any discounts being applied.

What is the fee?

The inspection fee ranges from $75-$150 depending on location of home.

When does my inspection expire?

Provided no material changes have been made to the structure, wind mitigation inspections are valid for up to five years from the date of original inspection.
